E2-M3A Southern Adriatic Observatory


Oceanographic parameters (Temperature, salinity, pCO2, pH, O2) and Meteorological parameters (Atmospheric pressure, Wind speed and direction, Air temperature, Relative humidity, Solar radiation, IR radiation)

The E2-M3A observatory is positioned in the centre of the cyclonic gyre where deep convection process takes place, involving both the atmosphere and the ocean dynamics and forming new dense and oxygenated waters, thus triggering the solubility and the biological pump.



S1 Po River CTD/METEO Buoy

Within the framework of a multidisciplinary research project that uses automated stations to study the marine environment, in cooperation between CNR, Bologna Section of ISMAR and other public and governmental Research Institutes, a Model M4 buoy produced by Communication Technology that measures METEO and physico-chemical data (CTD,Oxygen,pH etc) in the water column was positioned in the S1 site south of the Po Delta.



MAMBO - 1 Buoy (Monitoraggio AMBientale Operativo)

Since 1998, a continuous monitoring, of the Gulf of Trieste, was guaranteed thanks to the positioning of a weather and oceanographic buoy called "Mambo" (Environmental Monitoring Operational) dedicated to the continuous acquisition of meteorological and oceanographic data.



W1-M3A Fixed-Point Open Ocean Observatory in the Ligurian Sea

The W1-M3A observing system is one of the most important infrastructure of the National Research Council of Italy and it is part of the network of deep ocean European observatories. The open sea laboratory is moored in the middle of the Ligurian Sea, inside the area known as the "Cetaceans' Sanctuary" on the route between Genoa and Cape Corse, about 80 Km off the coast of Liguria where the water depth is about 1200 m!

L'unita' di ricerca di Oceanografia Fisica e Chimica della sede di Ancona di ISMAR gestisce attualmente 5 siti fissi di misura in real-time: una stazione meteo-marina ubicata a circa 1,5 miglia a nord di Senigallia ed una stazione meteo (operativa dal 1997) installata sul tetto dell'istituto.



Piattaforma Acqua Alta

The "Acqua Alta" research tower was installed on January 1970 off the Gulf of Venice, Italy, by Micoperi for the CNR. This tower consists of a platform containing an instrument house, supported by a steel pipe structure, similar to that of an oil well derrick.

Gargano Pole

La Meda Gargano, una particolare e sofisticata struttura di acciaio attrezzata di strumentazioni per la ricerca scientifica marina, e' una meda elastica fornita dalla Floatex. La struttura portante e' rappresentata da un palo in acciaio di oltre 25 metri, di questi 18 metri sono immersi in mare.



Gulf of Naples coastal observatory

The research Program MareChiara was launched by SZN in 1984 for the study of the coastal pelagic system in the Gulf of Naples with the aim of investigating the structure and functioning of planktonic communities in relation to the environmental variability and climate change.
